چکیده
Abstract Dams are built to contain water or mining tailings and provide several benefits society. The safety stability of these structures essential since eventual accidents can generate catastrophic damage. main cause ruptures is associated with abnormal seepage, which progress an internal erosion process. To assess the dams, periodic inspections carried out, typically include visual geotechnical instrumentation. Some geophysical methods have potential assist conventional instrumentation using non-destructive rapid acquisition investigations. present study applied a finite element forward modeling evaluate percolation conditions in earth dam decommissioned uranium mine Brazil. final structure contention system treatment. electrical resistivity data were acquired tomography (ERT) Schlumberger array. results presented from inversion 3D models. processed by open-source software (modeling data). indicate presence vertical filter located crest area. different levels investigation indicated infiltration rock mass foundation. These supported structural surveys out area that fracturing pattern satisfactory for desired purposes demonstrate constitute important complementary tool monitoring dams.

Detection and determination of groundwater contamination plume using time-lapse electrical resistivity tomography (ERT) method
Protection of water resources from contamination and detection of the contaminants and their treatments are among the essential issues in the management of water resources. In this work, the time-lapse electrical resistivity tomography (ERT) surveys were conducted along 7 longitudinal lines in the downstream of the Latian dam in Jajrood (Iran), in order to detect the contamination resulting fro...

متن کاملAnatomy of terminal moraine segments and implied lake stability on Ngozumpa Glacier, Nepal, from electrical resistivity tomography (ERT)
Moraine-dammed lakes at debris-covered glaciers are becoming increasingly common and pose significant outburst flood hazards if the dam is breached. While moraine subsurface structure and internal processes are likely to influence dam stability, only few sites have so far been investigated. We conducted electrical resistivity tomography (ERT) surveys at two sites on the terminal moraine complex...
متن کاملGeostatistical Modeling of Electrical Resistivity Tomography for Imaging Porphyry Cu Mineralization in Takht-e-Gonbad Deposit, Iran
This work presents the application of a geostatistical-based modeling approach for building up electrical properties acquired from a geophysical electrical tomography survey deployed for the purpose of porphyry Cu exploration at the Takht-e-Gonbad deposit, in the central domain of Iran. Electrical data were inverted in 2D along several profiles across the main favorable zones of Cu-bearing mine...
متن کاملAn Investigation on Application of the Electrical Resistivity Tomography Method to Concrete Structures
Reinforced concrete used for bridge decks and pillars, highways and other transportation facilities experience loss of integrity over time caused by poor initial quality, action of de-icing salts, temperature changes, fatigue and, above all, delamination caused by corrosion of reinforcement bars (rebars for brevity). Electrical resistivity is sensitive to those losses of integrity. Using 3D num...
